Sasha Abolenskiy had a hat trick including a spectacular breakaway goal that was the #5 play on ESPN SportsCenter’s Top 10 for Friday night to give the Raiders an impressive win with the post-season looming.  Abolenskiy now has 25 goals on the season.  His second goal, assisted by goalie Justin Madison (36 saves) saw a great burst of speed and an elite move to score on the breakaway.  James Bason had a pair of goals for the Raiders who got within 4-3 before Abolenskiy’s highlight reel Ramagoal.

Ramapo 1 Pascack 0 | Big North Gold Cup Quarterfinal

No. 4 seed Ramapo boys hockey put on a defensive clinic on Friday night as they defeated No. 5 Pascack 1-0 in the Big North Gold Cup quarterfinals. A shutout performance for senior goalie Luke L’Heureux, the Raider defense allowed just 18 shots on goal in the contest. The lone goalscorer was Theo Herman, who scored an unassisted goal 1:00 into the third period.

The Raiders now move to face No. 1 seed Ridgewood in Wednesday’s Gold Cup semifinals.
