There was plenty of action on the hardwood on Friday night, and as usual JSZ had cameras all over the Garden State. Enjoy the highlights!

St. John Vianney 62 Trenton Catholic 55 | Girls

One of the most anticipated matchups of the year did not disappoint as St. John Vianney (11-0) defeated Trenton Catholic (9-1) to snap the Iron Mikes’ 32-game win streak. SJV controlled the first half thanks to Princeton University commit Madison St. Rose, who had 20 points through two quarters to give the Lancers a 30-27 advantage at the break. Trenton Catholic would take a brief lead to close out the third, but Meg Cahalan had a big final quarter to put St. John Vianney back in front to control the rest of the matchup. Cahalan finished the evening with 15 points while Madison St. Rose had 28.

Montclair Immaculate 55 St. Rose 34 | Girls

Intense physicality, stifling defense and timely scoring were the three pillars Montclair Immaculate leaned on Friday night when they upended perennial Shore Conference power St. Rose. After trailing at the end of the first quarter, the Lions put their feet to the floor and raced out to a halftime lead and went wild in the second half. Sydney Echevarria-Briscoe led Montclair Immaculate with 12 points and 16 rebounds, while Tiara Bellamy (11 points) and Bukky Akinsola (10 points) each reached double figures. St. Rose’s Abby Antognoli led all scorers with 14 points in the loss.
