JSZ makes it’s first trip to the rinks this winter season as we kick off our 2025-26 high school hockey coverage! State finalists Ridgewood open their new season with a bang while Hopewell Valley-Montgomery and Princeton duke it out to a tie in CVC action. Stay tuned throughout the night as our coverage rolls in!
Ridgewood 4 Passaic Tech 2
The Maroons are primed to be one of the state’s best squads this season and still delivered a big-time performance with one of the nation’s elite players out of the lineup. Led by senior AJ LoSauro, Ridgewood (1-0) began their new season with a quality win over the defending Passaic County Tournament champs. LoSauro kicked off the scoring Friday night with the 75th goal of his career. Younger brother Will LoSauro was out of action but the Maroons still poured in four goals. Senior goaltender Oliver Grant was solid in his first start. Both teams are going to be back in action on Sunday.

Hopewell Valley-Montgomery 5 Princeton 5 (OT)
There were 50 minutes of hockey played and 10 combined goals, yet no winner emerged as Hopewell Valley-Montgomery (1-0-1) and Princeton (0-0-1) tied in Princeton’s season opener. HVM was without junior Jack Riewe, who scored five times in their previous season opener, and starting goalie Emma Seamon. Dylan Wyckoff stepped up with two goals and an assist, while Anna Baumunk made 30 saves to fill the gaps. Princeton faced multiple two-goal deficits but managed to rally, thanks to Anders Hedin’s two goals and an assist. These teams will meet again on January 28th.
