Holy Spirit 12 St. Augustine 7

The Spartans earned a spot in the top West Jersey Football League “playoff pod” with a thrilling win over the rival Hermits. Nasir Hill gave St. Augustine the lead with a 67-yard touchdown catch with less than five minutes left. On the next play from scrimmage, Trevor Cohen connected with Gavin Roman for a 40-yard TD toss to give Spirit the win. Patrick “Cheeks” Smith rushed for 173 yards and a TD in the victory.

Burlington Township 21 Delran 13

Leland Williams blocked a go-ahead field goal with 4:39 left in the fourth quarter and returned it 75 yards for a touchdown to give Burlington Township a perfect 6-0 regular season. JSZ’s Rich Chrampanis has the highlights from the WJFL:


Randolph 38 West Morris 13

Randolph remains undefeated in 2020 following a 38-13 victory over Super Football Conference Freedom Blue Division rival West Morris. The Wolfpack also unbeaten coming in were shut out 21-0 at halftime by a smothering Rams defense. Randolph was led by senior running back Jimmy Pepe who rushed for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Irvington 37 Montclair 0

The annual rivalry game between the Blue Knights and Mounties got an added twist in 2020 with the addition of a title belt awarded to the winner. Irvington won the first official “Belt Game” Friday behind four touchdowns from Al-Muhaymin Lockhart and a stingy defensive effort.

Pope John 40 Passaic Tech 0

The Lions showed up on Senior Day. Pope John dominated the line of scrimmage and held PCTI to a staggering -55 yards of offense on the day. Tyler Ruscher was the star on offense as the senior two-way player found the endzone three times.

Freehold Boro 40 Middletown North 37

Kayden Hutchinson’s 36-yard field goal with five seconds left gave the Colonials a last second win on the road to improve to 5-1 on the season. Middletown North took a 37-34 lead in the fourth quarter on a Lucas Cerbo 1-yard touchdown run before Hutchinson booted a pair of field goals in the fourth to get the win. Sha’Kim Shuler had three TD runs and a TD pass for 5-1 Freehold Boro. JSZ’s Rich Chrampanis has the last second drama and post-game reaction from Middletown:


Donovan Catholic 35 Toms River North 0

The Griffins finish the regular season undefeated. A 35 to nothing rout of the Mariners secures Donovan Catholic’s spot as the #2 team in the Shore. Jahdir Loftland dominated all game and finished with three rushing touchdowns on the night.

Holmdel 37 Marlboro 0

AJ DeCicco and Christian Donnelly each had two TD runs and Jaden Gallo added another to get the Hornets to 5-1 to close out the regular season. All give Hornets touchdown runs were 45 yards or longer. JSZ’s Rich Chrampanis has the Shore Conference highlights:

St. Joseph Academy 23 Timber Creek 7

The Wildcats picked up a statement win against the Chargers on a foggy night in Buena. Cohl Mercado rushed for two touchdowns to lead the St. Joe ground game. St. Joe’s defense was dominant throughout the night, forcing four turnovers to take the spark out of a potent Timber Creek offense.
