The road to the state finals continues with sectional finals on the public side, and semifinal matchups on the non-public side! Enjoy the highlights!

DePaul 13 St. Thomas Aquinas | Non-Public “B” Semifinal

Reigning Non Public “B” Champions DePaul (6-5) advanced to their third consecutive state final following a 13-10 comeback victory over St. Thomas Aquinas (9-1). The Trojans who came into the game undefeated trailed 7-3 at halftime until a 58 yard touchdown from Christian Magliacano put them ahead 10-7 midway through the third quarter. DePaul would take the lead on an 18 yard rushing touchdown from Nolan James with under five minutes remaining in the fourth for the eventual game-winning score. Four star receiver Dez Jones, who had the game’s first touchdown set up the score with a long first down reception. The Spartans looking to win back to back titles set up a second rematch with Red Bank Catholic.

Mainland 35 Millville 13 | South Jersey Group 4 Final

The Mustangs went on the road and avenged their loss to the Thunderbolts in last year’s state semifinals to bring home a second-straight sectional championship. Stephen Ordille was a man on a mission for the Mustangs, rushing for 244 yards and four touchdowns in the victory. Villanova commit Jamie Tyson and Jake Blum had interceptions to highlight a phenomenal defensive performance from second-seeded Mainland (12-0). Lotzeir Brooks and Syracuse commit Ta’Ron Haile hauled in receiving touchdowns for top-seeded Millville (9-2). Mainland will face Central champion Winslow Twp. in the Group 4 state semifinals next week.

Ramapo 14 Northern Highlands 10 | North 2 Group 4 Final

Third time’s a charm, right? After falling to the Highlanders in both of the last two sectional finals, the Raiders secured a sectional championship a third time around. Top-seeded Ramapo (11-0) erased a 10-point deficit and stormed back in late to get the win – Landon DePrima’s 21-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Del Valle was the go-ahead score. Northern Highlands (9-3) built that 10-point lead in the first half, but could not stave off Ramapo’s surges in the end. Ramapo will host Mount Olive in the Group 4 state semifinal next week.

Rumson-Fair Haven 14 Haddonfield 7 | South Jersey Group 2 Final

Jackson Gallagher and Kellen Murray scored first half touchdowns and Jacob Tobias broke up a pass in the end zone in the final minute to secure Rumson-Fair Haven’s third straight section title and 8th overall championship on the gridiron.  RFH was able to win the time of possession with long sustained drives.  Haddonfield tied the game at seven in the first quarter on Declan McCarthy’s one-yard TD run.  Dominic Hahn caused a fumble late in the fourth quarter to give Haddonfield a chance to tie the game but the drive was stalled at the 4-yard line thanks to Tobias’ heroics.  RFH will host Willingboro next Friday looking to return to the Group 2 state championship.
