A busy Friday night in high school hoops sees top-ranked Plainfield go to battle with Slam Academy as part of the Iverson Classic Blackout Series at Paramus Catholic. Blair Academy 58 Patrick School 55 | Boys | Iverson Classic Blackout Series

Texas commit Coleman Elkins sealed the deal, knocking down the go-ahead three with 12 seconds left and scoring 20 points to give the Bucs a win in a rematch of last year’s Prep state championship.  Duke commit Deron Rippey, Jr. had 14 points in the win.

Plainfield 73 Slam Academy (FL) 64 | Boys | Iverson Classic Blackout Series

Micah Gordon delivered a complete performance with 23 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and six steals to outduel high profile recruit Josiah Brooks as the Cardinals (9-1) used hot three point shooting to lead wire to wire.  Plainfield raced out to a 16-4 lead thanks to early triples from Devin Thomas and Marcus Richards.  Thomas finished with 19 points and eight rebounds and Richards added 14 points.  Brooks, the #1 ranked recruit nationally in the class of 2029 led all scorers with 26 points, but Rashawn Williams (10 points) and Gordon stepped up in the fourth quarter after Miami Slam got within four.

Central Regional 39 Southern 25 | Boys

The Golden Eagles seized control of a defensive battle in the second half to pick up their third-straight win in divisional action against the rival Rams. Derek Roth delivered all night long in the victory, going for a game-high 16 points and 12 rebounds in the victory. Elijah Reeder added six points, while Tyler Woermer went for six points and 15 rebounds for Central Regional (6-3). Noah Perna finished with a team-high eight points in the loss for Southern (4-4). Round two between these teams is scheduled for January 27th.
