Jack Gill scored in the 6th minute and Luke Pascarella secured an insurance goal in the 73rd minute as the Colts get a statement opening win in a matchup of two teams ranked in the top ten in the preseason state polls. JSZ’s Bryan DeNovellis has all the action from Lincroft:
Highland Park 5 South River 2 – Boys Soccer
Defending Central Group 1 Champs Highland Park began the new soccer season with a win over the team who they beat 8-7 to get to reach the semifinals, South River. The Owls gained a commanding 3 goal lead at halftime, in the second half Highland Park only allowed a late goal in the closing minutes to walk away with a 5-2 victory. Voorhees 6 North Plainfield 0 – Girls Soccer
Voorhees’ came out aggressive in their 2018 home opener against the North Plainfield Canucks. By halftime the Vikings lead 4-0 thanks to the offensive stylings of Colby Gavornik and Tessa Maddaloni who each had two goals a piece in the Vikings 6-0 victory. Dunellen 3 South Amboy 1 – Girls Soccer
Erika Orellana had a goal and an assist and the Destroyers broke a 1-1 tie with two second-half goals to open the season with a road win. JSZ has the highligthts from the beautiful backdrop of the Raritan Bay:
