Toms River North 3rd baseman Joey Rose becomes the third player with Shore Conference ties selected in the 2016 MLB Amateur Draft.  See SSZ’s highlight reel of the Mariners slugger

Day two of the MLB Amateur Draft has seen another Shore Conference player get selected.  Joey Rose, the Toms River North 3rd baseman was the 5th round pick by the Arizona Diamondbacks, the #149 pick overall.  Rose belted 10 homers in his senior season with the Mariners including four games with two blasts.  One of the big moments of his senior season came against Barnegat when Rose was able to deliver a 3-4 performances with 2 runs and 3 RBI’s against Barnegat.  Two of those hits were against Jason Groome, the Boston Red Sox first round pick.  You can see the 2-run double Rose laced off of Groome here in our highlight reel of Rose:

Rose is signed to play Division I baseball by Oklahoma State, but his Twitter feed indicates that he is ready to become a professional baseball player instead.  The Diamondbacks 5th round signing bonus slot is $371,900.

Jason Groome, Barnegat: 1st round, #12 overall to Boston Red Sox

Matt Thaiss, Jackson Memorial (University of Virginia): 1st round #16 overall to Los Angeles Angels

Joey Rose, Toms River North: 5th round #149 overall to Arizona Diamondbacks
