Rumson-Fair Haven student manager Matty “Cools” Newman has been the focal point of a special culture with the Bulldogs boys basketball team. Matty got his big moment on Senior Day and didn’t disappoint. Watch JSZ’s feature on a special afternoon in Rumson

JSZ first profiled Matty “Cools” Newman two years ago. The Rumson-Fair Haven student with autism has been an integral part of Chris Champeau’s team for the past four years providing endless energy and enthusiasm in practice and on game day. On Senior Day, Newman got his chance to play his first varsity basketball game when the Bulldogs hosted Holmdel. With the stands full of parents, friends, and the RFH Dawgpound, Matty Cools didn’t disappoint as he scored just 35 seconds into game in Rumson’s 62-47 win over the Hornets. JSZ’s Rich Chrampanis takes us behind the scenes of the preparation and the execution of a perfect moment to honor Matty Cools:

In case you missed it, here’s our profile of Matty Cools from February 2020 as we attended RFH practice to see the impact he had on the team behind the scenes as well as game day:
