SSZ All-Zone running back Derek Ernst of Raritan is already working towards his senior season with the Rockets by training at RYPT

He wasn’t supposed to be the featured back at Raritan until 2015, but an injury thrusted Derek Ernst into the starting backfield and he proved to be one of the most dynamic backs in the Shore Conference.   The junior finished fifth in the Shore Conference with 1504 yards rushing and 24 touchdowns.  Ernst averaged 7.19 yards a carry and was named to Shore Sports Zone’s All-Zone team as one of the elite running backs in the area.

Derek took less than a week off before heading back to the gym to work towards a senior season.  He hopes to break the Raritan record for career rushing yards and touchdowns.  He concentrates on speed and agility at Reach Your Potential Training.  “Derek has done a fantastic job of really committing himself,” RYPT Director of Sports Performance Adam Feit told SSZ.    “Derek’s got great genetics, he’s got a great work ethic, he’s hard nosed and rugged.  He’s not playing again until next August, so the fact that he’s in here working in our speed program, we couldn’t be more happier for him.”
