MIDDLETOWN – Red Bank Catholic took advantage of a depleted Saint John Vianney lineup to cruise to an 8-0 win in the Shore Conference championship game at Middletown Ice World. The Lancers were without its two leading scorers (Matt Kidney and Matt Gelatt). Todd Goehring led the way with a hat trick, with Max Weber and Griffin Hurley contributing two goals apiece. Goehring now leads the Caseys with 32 goals on the season. Previous leading scorer Evan Hoey was involved in a first period fight against Liam Casey. Both players were ejected and will miss the opening round of the state tournament. Hoey suffered a shoulder injury in the fracas.
RBC open state tournament play on the road at Morristown-Beard on Wednesday. The Lancers are home against Saint Rose on Tuesday night with the winner set to face CBA later in the week.
