Old Bridge 6 South Plainfield 5 | GMC Tournament Final

After dropping a pair of games to the Tigers in the regular season, the Knights felt the pressure on Saturday. But they welcomed that pressure.

A big four-run first inning gave third-seeded Old Bridge (18-7) a lead they would ultimately hold until the final out as they captured the program’s fourth GMC championship. Old Bridge had no extra base hits in the game, thus relying on small ball and great defense en route to the championship. The Knights made two big-time defensive plays in the bottom of the seventh inning to preserve the win. Top-seeded South Plainfield (19-5-1) battled well throughout this game but couldn’t get out of the hole they fell in during the first inning.
