It was a call Jake McKenna had been dreaming about for his entire life. The Ocean City senior picked up the phone on Sunday morning, and agreed to sign with the Philadelphia Phillies. McKenna is a 6-foot-7, 230-pound left-handed pitcher, who finished with 18 strikeouts in 8+ innings of work as a junior in 2019. McKenna was poised for a big senior season, but never got to take the mound because of the coronavirus pandemic. He was slated to pitch at St. Joseph’s University next year, but instead signed with the Phils for the free-agent maximum of $20,000.

We caught up with McKenna to get his thoughts on a whirlwind and unforgettable day:
