Bridgewater-Raritan 6 Ridge 5 | Skyland Cup Semifinal

Defending Skyland Cup champions No. 11 Bridgewater-Raritan will have a chance at two in a row this week after defeating Ridge 6-5 in Monday’s Cup semis. The Panthers started out the game with their offense on fire with goals from Sasha Abolenskiy, Alex Kotelnikov, and Stanely Xenakis (SH) in the first period. Ridge’s Tucker Daggert netted one for the Devils to make it 3-1 after one.

B-R kicked off the 2nd period with two quick power play goals from Xenakis and Abolenskiy, but Jake Gunn and Ryan McNally then came through for Ridge and it was a 5-3 game into the 3rd. 90 seconds into the period, Abolenskiy scored his third of the game to make it 6-3. The Devils provided a scare with two late goals by McNally and Brody Hansen, but goaltender Justin Madison stood firm to cap off his 40-save night.

The Panthers now move to Wednesday’s Skyland Cup final against top-seeded North Hunterdon.
