Anticipation was high in the Becker house on Monday night, as Don Bosco Prep shortstop Nick Becker waited on the call of a lifetime. It came soon after 9 p.m. from the opposite end of the country.
Becker was soon taken by the Seattle Mariners in the second round – No. 57 overall – and he’s already letting it known that he has sky-high expectations for himself.
New Jersey’s 2025 Gatorade Player of the Year hit .394 this spring with five home runs en route to leading Don Bosco Prep to a 26-2 record and league, county, sectional and state championships along the way.
