Mater Dei Prep head football coach Dino Mangiero made a name for himself as an NFL player with the Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks. Before he built the Seraphs into a New Jersey power, he was the head man at Poly Prep in Brooklyn. One of his former players has followed in his coaching footsteps and made it all the way to the NFL. Brian Flores spent 15 years on Bill Belichick’s staff in New England winning four Super Bowls along the way. He’s ready to make his NFL head coaching debut this fall when he takes the reins of fellow AFC East rival Miami. The Dolphins head man enjoyed speaking with the middle schoolers and credits Mangiero for helping him on his path to an NFL head coach. Flores wasn’t the only NFL flavor on hand. New Orleans Saints wide receiver Keith Kirkwood talked to the campers about the importance of academics. The Neptune native made his NFL debut last year catching two TD passes from Drew Brees. The camp also featured a number of former Mater Dei players who are now in the college ranks including Army’s Isaiah Alston, Boston College’s Izaiah Henderson, and Rutgers wide receiver Eddie Lewis.
