JSZ’s 2024 Mister & Miss Hoop Zone
After watching and reporting on hundreds of games from December through March, our team of MMJ’s have narrowed down to five boys and five girls finalists for our annual Player of the Year awards. Here’s who made the cut in 2024!
Dylan Harper Wins 2024 Mister Hoop Zone
Dylan Harper’s high school career came to a close with him on top of the world. Harper, the star-studded Rutgers commit, won his first state championship, was named a McDonald’s All-American and averaged 22.4 points per game in his senior season.

Basketball is life for the Blakes family and Mikayla Blakes has worked tirelessly to become the best player in her family. That, in turn, helped her become the top player in the state in her final high school season.

JSZ once again polled dozens of coaches and media members to determine our award winners. First place votes were worth three points; second place votes were worth two points; third place votes were worth one point.
Mister Hoop Zone Balloting Breakdown
“Here’s how the voting broke down for the 2024 Mr. Hoop Zone Award. We collected 56 ballots from coaches and credentialed media – Harper ran away with the trophy after 49 first place votes. St. Rose senior Matt Hodge had a spectacular year for the state champion Purple Roses – he was the clear second place choice. Hudson Catholic’s Tahaad Pettiford was also a McDonalds All-American, he finished in third. Peyton Seals won back to back state titles with Ramapo, he came in fourth. Camden’s Billy Richmond, who’s committed to Kentucky, finished fifth.”
Mister Hoop Zone Balloting Breakdown
“Now, lets take a look at the 2024 Miss Hoop Zone balloting. Our team collected ballots from 54 coaches and credentialed media around the state. Blakes was the leading vote-getter, landing on 94 percent of all ballots. Morris Catholic junior Mia Pauldo finished as a close second with 105 points. Manchester Township’s Devyn Quigley finished in third – she was the state’s leading scorer and is committed to NC State. Ewing senior Te’Yala Delfosse finished in fourth – Red Bank catholic sophomore Addy Nyemchek rounded out the voting in fifth place.”
