SSZ has highlights of Mater Dei Prep’s 57-49 win over Saint Joseph’s-Montvale and CBA’s 68-60 win against East Orange at Pine Belt Arena in Toms River as part of a five game showcase to raise money for pediatric cancer
Mater Dei Prep head basketball coach Ben Gamble helped organize the Valerie Fund Basketball Challenge at Pine Belt Arena in Toms River. The five game showcase featured four boys matchups involving North Jersey powers and a girls game between Mater Dei Prep and Hudson Catholic, a game the Lady Seraphs won 55-45. CBA topped East Orange 68-60 and Mater Dei Prep got another quality out of conference win with a 57-49 victory against St. Joe’s out of Montvale:
Established in 1976 in memory of Valerie Goldstein, The Valerie Fund’s seven centers provide caring, state-of-the-art outpatient health care to more than 4,000 children and their families each year in New Jersey, New York, and the Philadelphia area. Bunny Flanders, Director of Marketing and Communications for The Valerie Fund is “excited to have the support of Mater Dei Prep and their basketball challenge. Students from the participating schools will be supporting kids with cancer and blood disorders in their home communities.”
