Two of the top seniors in the Garden State, Tywone Malone and Patrick “Cheeks” Smith, signed letters of intent on Wednesday. JSZ was on hand for the signings.

Malone Signs with Ole Miss

Tywone Malone has found his next home. After starring at Bergen Catholic for four years, Malone put pen to paper Wednesday is officially committed to the University of Mississippi. Malone, who will play both football and baseball at Ole Miss, is a rare two-sport athlete for a man of his stature. Arguably New Jersey’s No. 1 recruit, Malone keeps Bergen Catholic’s tradition alive of sending talented players to top Power 5 programs.

JSZ’s Jay Cook has the story from Oradell:

Jersey Sports Zone’s coverage of Bergen Catholic is brought to you by Rothman Orthopaedics.

Smith Signs with Vanderbilt

Patrick “Cheeks” Smith is heading to the SEC. The Holy Spirit senior RB signed with Vanderbilt on Wednesday night, in front of family, friends, coaches and teammates. Smith rushed for over 1,700 yards and 16 touchdowns last fall, leading Spirit to an undefeated season and a number one ranking in South Jersey. He originally committed to Colorado State back in May, before decommitting in November. Smith is now officially a Commodore, as he gets set for the next chapter in Nashville.
