4th seeded Mahwah High School came away with a hard fought win over 5th seeded Ramsey in the opening round of the Big North Gold Cup. Kevin Johnston took a pass from Patrick Larkin in the 2nd and scored a one timer to put the Thunderbirds up 3-1, and captain Anthony DeAlto finished off the game in the 3rd with a goal off a rebound to give Mahwah a 4-2 win at the Ice Vault in Wayne. The Thunderbirds now advance to take on top seeded Northern Highlands, Tuesday night at 7 PM in Wayne.
