Ace wrestler Kira Pipkins has been setting the standard at Bloomfield High School since the day she stepped into the wrestling room as a freshman.

She’s just a few weeks away from setting a new standard, too.

Pipkins is working to become the first girls wrestler in state history to win four state championships. Only four male wrestlers have ever accomplished that feat (Delbarton’s Mike Grey, Bound Brook’s Andrew Campolattano, South Plainfield’s Anthony Ashnault and Bergen Catholic’s Nick Suriano.)

With all the success she’s experienced, Pipkins has been motivating a number of young women to take up girls wrestling and grow the program in her hometown.
