Irvington’s booming football program is producing as much Division One talent as any public school in New Jersey. The Blue Knights added another Power Five recruit from the Class of 2023 to their growing list.

Wide receiver Famah Toure announced on social media Friday evening he’s verbally committed to Rutgers University.

His commitment signals a familial homecoming for the Toure family. Famah’s older brother, Mohamed Toure, is currently on the Rutgers football roster as a defensive end.

Toure was only one of two Irvington players to crack 1,000 all-purpose yards last season. The 6’4″, 200 pound wideout was used in a multitude of offensive sets and brought a lethal combo of speed and physicality to the Blue Knights’ offense. Toure accumulated 1,098 yards and six total touchdowns as a junior.

Irvington had a historic 2021 season – they went 11-2, won the first sectional championship in program history and then followed that up with a North Group 4 Regional Championship win over undefeated Northern Highlands at, ironically enough, Rutgers University’s SHI Stadium.

Toure will help headline an uber-talented senior class at Irvington for the 2022 season alongside Notre Dame commit Adon Schuler and fellow Power 5 recruit Nasir Addison.
