NEWARK – Howell held a 1-0 lead on Randolph through two periods, but the Rams scored two third period goals to claim a 2-1 victory and the Public “A” state hockey championship. Howell goalie Bobby Donevero made 21 saves in the first period as the Rebels were outshot 21-2. Kyle Hallbauer gave Howell a 1-0 lead with his 42nd goal, a shorthanded tally that put the Rebels 15 minutes from winning its first state championship in just its seventh season. But Matt Koop got the equalizer and Matt Bruno scored with 2:40 left to give Randolph its 8th state title in the last 13 years. Watch all the highlights here:
