Friday, August 30th was the worst day of Jaylin Jones’ life. There’s no question about it.
He was at football practice with his Morris Knolls teammates when a call from his parents came in. They broke the news – a fire destroyed their family home off of Route 10 in Denville. Jones, a junior defensive back, was shook to his core. But it didn’t stop him from continuing to be an A+ teammate.
Jones has played a key role for the Golden Eagles in their 2-0 start to the 2024 season. He made a key interception in overtime to secure a 27-26 win over West Morris in Week 1 and picked another pass off in a Week 2 victory against Bridgewater-Raritan.
All of that’s happening while his family moves and restarts their lives. Vast support from the Rockaway and Denville communities has helped along the way – a GoFundMe page to support the Jones’ raised over $34,000.
