Jason Groome was supposed to have a pitch limit of 75, but when he reached 16 strikeouts and 78 pitches through six innings, the chance at a no-hitter was too good to pass up. Groome once again had dozens of MLB scouts behind the backstop to watch his second start of the season and he was even better than the first outing. He reached 97 miles per hour against Central and his 92nd and final pitch of the game hit 94 on the radar gun. Jared Kacso had a sensational day at the plate going 4-4 with 3 doubles and 3 RBI’s. Central’s lone base runner came in the 3rd inning on an error, but Groome picked the runner off of first. After a flyout to left field in the 4th inning, Groome closed the game with 11 straight strikeouts. Watch the highlights and post-game reaction here:
