Jersey Sports Zone caught up with Boston Red Sox catching prospect Kyle Teel during the AA Portland Sea Dogs road trip to Somerset.  Watch the story on a player who could be New Jersey’s next household name in MLB!

Kyle Teel went from Mahwah to the University of Virginia where he became the ACC Player of the Year and one of college baseball’s top catchers.  The Boston Red Sox took notice and drafted him #14 overall in the 2023 MLB Draft.  In his first full season in the minors, Teel has shown he has a future at Fenway Park and the big leagues.  Teel is hitting .301 with 9 homers and 52 RBI’s earning a spot in the MLB Futures game where he had two doubles against the game’s top prospects.  MLB.com has him as the #24 overall prospect in the game with Baseball American giving him the #31 ranking.  At this point, it’s not a matter of if but when Teel makes his MLB debut.  JSZ caught up with the former Thunderbird during the AA Portland Sea Dogs six-game series in New Jersey against the Somerset Patriots.
