Westfield and Chatham-Millburn Livingston girls hockey put on a show Thursday in Dunellen. From a record-breaking moment to start things, to crazy saves, and overtime to boot! Check out all the action below.

The big story coming into Chatham-Millburn-Livingston and Westfield’s game on Thursday was that of CML senior defense Alex Donoghue. Donoghue was just one goal away from reaching 135 career goals and breaking a 19-year record originally set by Lawrenceville alum Alysse Ruff. It took a couple of tries, but Donoghue got the record with 5:00 remaining in the first period, putting the Ironcats up 1-0!
It was an extended celebration, but no balloons or game stoppage. She wanted to get right back to business, and that she did. Donoghue scored twice more in the first and second period for a natural hat trick! Her 49th goal of the year and 137th of her career gave CML a 3-0 lead.
But the Blue Devils would not lay down. Westfield senior Ella Delaney scored late in the second to make it 3-1, her twin sister Lauren made it 3-2 in the third, and Ella scored once again with 5:00 left in regulation to knot things up at 3! The game then entered overtime and CML senior goalie saved the most spectacular of her 48 saves for last, keeping the 3-3 tie.
