Roselle Catholic 68 The Patrick School 58 – Union County Boys Tournament Championship

The final of the Union County Boys Tournament featured the number 10 team in the state and defending champs the second seed The Patrick School facing off with the number one team in the state and the top seed, Roselle Catholic. The Lions who were in search of their first ever UCT title fell behind early but were able to turn it on in the second half thanks to a 19 point performance from four star recruit Khalil Whitney to come away with a 68-58 victory. Ranney 52 Mater Dei Prep 28 – Shore Conference Boys Championship

The Panthers raced out to a 10-0 lead and used incredible defense to stifle the two time defending Shore Conference champions.  Ahmadu Sarnor led Ranney with 15 points and Scottie Lewis scored all 14 of his points in the first half.  Bryan Antoine scored 10, as Ranney made it three straight wins over Mater Dei Prep this season.  It’s Ranney’s first ever SCT crown.  JSZ has the highlights and post-game reaction from Monmouth University:

Manasquan 70 Saint John Vianney 52 – Shore Conference Girls Championship

Dara Mabrey delivered a dominant 33 point performance and Faith Masonius had 21 points and 14 rebounds as Manasquan knocked off the #1 team in New Jersey in convincing fashion at Monmouth University.  Mabrey had 17 in the first half and helped put the game away in the third quarter as the Warriors built a double-digit lead they never surrendered.   Madison Doring had 17 and Sajada Bonner scored 15 for the Lancers, who suffered just their second loss of the season.  Manasquan wins its fifth SCT and the Warriors were emotionally charged after pulling off the win.  JSZ has highlights of a great game played in front of a capacity crowd:

Hudson Catholic 62 Saint Peter’s Prep 52 – Hudson County Boys Championship

Jahvon Quinerly scored 24 points to lead the Hawks to a 7th straight Hudson County title.  JSZ’s Jay Cook has the highlights and post-game reaction from Jersey City:

Lincoln 49 Secaucus 39 – Hudson County Girls Championship

Alaisha Mumford scored 11 of her 22 points in the 4th quarter to lead Lincoln to its 4th Hudson County girls title.  JSZ’s Jay Cook has the action and post-game reaction from Jersey City:

Newark East Side 58 Montclair Immaculate 54 – Essex County Boys Championship

Jahid Jenkins led a trio of Red Raiders in double digits with 19 points as Newark East Side repeated as Essex County Champs.  Montclair Immaculate was seeking its first county title since 1961 and Jalen Carey’s 25 point effort nearly got them there.  After Carey scored four straight points to tie the game at 52, East Side took the lead on a Shamir Jackson basket and never looked back.  Watch the highlights from an exciting battle at Essex County College in Newark:

Gill St. Bernard’s 56 Rutgers Prep 54 – Somerset County Boys Championship:

Gill St. Bernard’s has reached the Somerset Tournament Final every year since 2015 and standout guard Paul Mulcahy says that’s because the Knights are simply the best team in the county. Not much to argue about that seeing as the Knights have also won the last four titles, including this year’s 2018 Somerset Championship after a nail-biting game with the Rutgers Prep Argonauts. Franklin 66 Rutgers Prep 49 – Somerset County Girls Championship

Two state powers battled in the Somerset County title game. Rutgers Prep came out hot thanks to an electric start by Leilani Correa and Andrea Gamboa; however, the Argonauts could not stop Franklin’s Diamond Miller. Miller led in scoring with 30 points as the Warriors won the 2018 Somerset County Title. Check out full highlights and post-game now:
