Eli Chong’s penalty kick in the 47th minute proved to be the game winning goal as the Dragons split the home and home series with the Rams handing Southern (9-1) its first loss of the season. Kevin Kiernan scored two goals for Southern to give him 17 on the season. Following Kiernan’s first goal, Brick Township answered with a pair of goals by Sean Palmer and Zack Meyer to take a 2-1 halftime lead. Chong’s PK made it a 3-1 game. Kiernan got the Rams within one in the 67th minute but Ryan Kelly had 16 saves to preserve the upset win against the #17 team in the latest state polls.
