Brick Memorial 145 pound state wrestling champion Alec Donovan has revealed that he’s gay in an article on outsports.com. In the article, Donovan spoke of his sexuality during a recruiting trip at Limestone College in South Carolina. The article also says that Donovan considered suicide as a freshman, but a friend made him rip up the suicide note he had written to his parents.
Donovan went 39-1 in his senior season helping the Mustangs win a team state championship along with his individual title. He is undecided at this point to where he will wrestle in college. Donovan hopes going public with his story can help other LGBT athletes.
