No. 8 Bergen Catholic began the new year with a 78-67 win over No. 5 Rutgers Prep at the Zone Six New Year’s Jump Off. The Crusaders turning multiple first half turnovers into points led 46-34 at the break and increased the deficit to as many as 20 in the third quarter. Rutgers Prep would cut the lead to seven in the fourth quarter but were unable to force overtime.
