The N.J. soccer playoffs continue on Tuesday! First, we head to Pingry the Prep “A” boys final between the undefeated Big Blue and Pennington. Then, we go to Clark for A.L. Johnson girls’ N2G2 quarterfinal clash against Somerville. Check out the action below.

Pingry 3 Pennington 1 | Boys | Prep “A” Final

It had been 33 years since Pingry last appeared in the Prep A Tournament and 39 years since Big Blue last claimed the tournament title. Now, in 2026, Pingry (21-0) has ended Pennington’s (10-5-1) three-year reign as Prep A champions in a fantastic championship matchup. With a one-goal lead and just over 13 minutes remaining, Pingry faced a crucial test when Pennington was awarded a penalty kick. The Big Blue coaching staff turned to sophomore goalkeeper Nico Roure-Singh, who came off the bench and delivered a massive save to preserve the lead. Julian Lopez also played a starring role, finding the back of the net twice. The victory gives Pingry its second trophy of the 2026 season, along with the Somerset County title. Big Blue now has an opportunity to add two more trophies to the case as it competes for the Non-Public “A” South and Non-Public “A” State championships.

This marks the second year in a row that the Crusaders have won a playoff game, the first such streak in seven years. ALJ’s goals were scored by junior Gabby Wandling and sophomore Ally Chavez, and goalie Addyson Layfield had six saves in net.

They now move on to Friday’s sectional semifinals to face top-seed West Morris Central.
