For more than 100 years, Ridgewood Maroons football has been a fabric of the school on campus during the fall. That tradition goes dark in 2026. Years of flood damage finally caught up with the stadium this summer when it failed a safety test for player impact absorption, forcing school officials to deliver the news players never wanted to hear: there will be no home football games at Ridgewood this season. The Maroons will need to find a neutral site for all four scheduled home games, starting with this Friday’s matchup against Hackensack — but if their response to the news was any indication, the loss of a home field isn’t shaking their season. Just two days after learning the news, Ridgewood took the field and delivered a dominant 42-7 win in their season opener at Montclair.
