JSZ closes out the month of May with three games from the Non-Public state tournament. Check back as the highlights are posted throughout the evening!


Gill St. Bernard’s 8 St. Joe’s (Met.) 3 | Boys | Non-Public Second Round 

No. 12/6-seed Gill St. Bernard’s boys lacrosse are state quarterfinal bound for the second straight year after an 8-3 victory Saturday over No. 18/11-seed St. Joe’s (Met.) in the Non-Public second round. Griffin O’Sullivan led the Knights with a hat trick, followed by Luke Greenseid with two goals. The hallmark, though, of the game for GSB was their defense which held the Falcons scoreless in the second half.  Brayden Negvesky was St. Joe’s’ leading scorer with two goals, while Kenny Noonan added the other. The Knights now face No. 6/3-seed Don Bosco Prep in next week’s state quarterfinals.

Notre Dame 12 St. Joe’s (Montvale) 9 | Boys | Non-Public Second Round 

Rutgers commit Emanuel Jastrzebski now sits alone in second place in NJ Lacrosse history with the 2nd most career points (475). Army commit Merritt Long and Colby commit Roman Klish combined for seven goals as Notre Dame (16-3) triumphed over St. Joe’s-Montvale (12-7) to reach the programs first Non-Public quarterfinal in 11 seasons.

Paul VI 12 Notre Dame 9 | Girls | Non-Public Second Round

The Eagles opened up a seven goal lead in the third, but had to fight off a fourth quarter rally from the Irish to reach the state quarterfinals. North Carolina commit Emma McCarthy went for five goals and two assists in her final home game. Delaware commit Ava Diaz and Amelia Giordano scored two goals each in the win for eighth-seeded Paul VI (12-6). William Smith commit Reese Parker finished with a hat trick, while TCNJ commit Kate Moog and Grace Marrone scored a pair of goals for ninth-seeded Notre Dame (16-4). Paul VI advances to face top-seeded Oak Knoll next Tuesday.
