DePaul Catholic and Passaic Tech go to battle for the Passaic County championship. Plus, Gloucester Catholic takes on Clearview in the finals of the 52nd Joe Hartmann Diamond Classic!
DePaul Catholic 11 Passaic Tech 1 (5 innings) | Passaic County Tournament Final
No. 11 DePaul Catholic baseball defeated defending champions No. 7 Passaic Tech 11-1 in five innings on Tuesday to win the Passaic County Tournament for the first time since 2018. This win also broke the Bulldogs’ 23-game win streak they have had since losing to the Spartans in their opener.
Oklahoma commit Jason Amalbert, named tournament MVP, went 2-3 on the night with two RBIs and a stolen base. Erick Pinales, who hit the walk-off double in the 5th, also had two RBIs as did Eric Marano. Starting pitcher Chris Marano pitched a complete game with 0 ER, 5 H, and 8 Ks.

Gloucester Catholic 13 Clearview 2 (5 innings) | 52nd Joe Hartmann Diamond Classic Final
The top-seeded Rams took the drama out of a tightly contested battle with a 12-run fourth inning as they powered their way to a record eighth Diamond Classic title. East Carolina commit Braeden Lipoff drove in three runs as part of the big inning, while Brayden Moughan also finished with three RBIs in the victory. Eddie Piniero allowed two runs over five solid inning for Gloucester Catholic (21-4). Ean Marcussen knocked in a pair of runs in the loss for sixth-seeded Clearview (20-5). Both teams earned the top seeds in their respective sectional playoff brackets as the state playoffs begin next week.
