JSZ saw several of the state’s top team in action on a busy Saturday in high school boys lacrosse. #11 Seton Hall Prep tries to unseat Delbarton as the state’s top ranked team, while #7 Shawnee and #10 Westfield collide in a fantastic top-ten matchup. Plus, #2 Summit hits the road to take on South Jersey power Moorestown. Check back as the highlights are posted throughout the evening!
Seton Hall Prep 9 Delbarton 7 | Boys
No. 11 Seton Hall Prep was 2-5 going into Saturday’s matchup against archival and No. 7 team in the U.S. Delbarton. The defending state champs needed a spark to get their season back on track, and they got that in spades with a 9-7 win over Jersey’s top squad! The biggest key to the Pirates incredible win was the way they started out, leading 4-0 with 9:00 remaining in the first half.
The Pirates would lead 9-5 with 2:00 left in regulation, but the Green Wave scored two quick goals to give themselves a chance. However, a stick save by goalie Brennan Lyons with 10 seconds remaining clinched the signature win on the year for Prep. Owen Dunleavy and Cooper Christian led the scoring for the Pirates with two goals each. Chase Houser, Jack Sheridan, and Pierce Bolger each scored twice for Delbarton.

The tenth-ranked Blue Devils shook off an early four goal deficit and then used a three goal surge in the fourth to hand the seventh-ranked Renegades their first loss against in-state competition. Cornell commit Koby Waldman led the way with four goals and an assist in the victory. Cooper Rosen and Kieran Gerne added a pair of goal each for Westfield (5-3). Rutgers commit Tyler Rotkowitz went for a hat trick, while Duke commit Tom McAneney and Mason McGovern scored twice in the loss for Shawnee (5-2).

Summit 12 Moorestown 3 | Boys
The second-ranked Hilltoppers made the long trip to South Jersey and cruised to their 14th straight win. Washington & Lee commit James Grainger led the charge with a hat trick as eight different Hilltoppers found the back of the net. With the win over Moorestown (2-4), and with top-ranked Delbarton losing, it’s possible we could see Summit (8-0) move to the top of the NJ boys lacrosse rankings.
