We have a pair of *thrillers* on the diamond for you on this Saturday. First, No. 4 DePaul Catholic looks to move to 6-0 as they host No. 19 Brick Memorial. Then, A.L. Johnson has upset on their mind as they look to snap No. 1 Governor Livingston’s 40-game win streak! Check out all the action below.
A.L. Johnson 2 Governor Livingston 1 (9 inn.)
Vincent Cilento’s base hit to left plated Brody Gulbin in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Crusaders (6-1) an upset win over New Jersey’s top ranked team ending the remarkable 40- game win streak of the defending two time state champions. Cilento started the day on the mound throwing five ininngs allowing just one unearned run on a balk striking out nine. Vin Donofrio threw four shutout frames to pick up the win in relief. Anthony Minniti’s RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning tied the game. A year ago, Governor Livingston (6-1) mercy ruled AL Johnson twice.

Brick Memorial 12 DePaul Catholic 9 (8 inn.)
No. 19 Brick Memorial baseball won an incredible game on Saturday, upsetting No. 4 DePaul 12-9 on the road in eight innings!
With the Mustangs leading the Spartans 4-3 in the top of the fourth and the bases loaded, senior Dan Golembiewski drilled a grand slam to left field to give them the 8-3 lead. Then, the Spartans came roaring back and eventually tied it up 9-9 off of Arizona State commit J.C. Pacheco’s second home run of the game, and an ensuing sac fly by Frankie Morano.
The game would reach extras, and that is where controversy struck. Brick Memorial’s Trevor Kish hit what was ruled an eventual game-winning three-run homer to make it 12-9 in the top of the eighth, but DePaul contended that the ball should have been ruled foul as they say the ball fell to the right of the right field foul pole.
