JSZ brings you two lacrosse matchups that needed overtime to decide a winner. Nationally ranked foes Lawrenceville and Brunswick collide, while Kent Place and Westfield clash in a battle of top-ten teams. Stay tuned as the highlights roll in!

Brunswick (CT) 9 Lawrenceville 8 (OT) | Boys

In a battle between two of the nation’s top high school lacrosse programs, Brunswick once again came out on top in the Garden State. After earning a win over Delbarton earlier this season, the Bruins traveled south to face Lawrenceville and defeated Big Red in overtime. Sawyer Bligh played the hero, scoring the golden goal just 22 seconds into overtime to seal the victory. Brunswick now owns wins this season over Lawrenceville, Malvern Prep, and Delbarton-all of whom rank among the top 10 teams in the country.

Kent Place 9 Westfield 8 (OT) | Girls

No. 4 Kent Place avoided an upset bid to No. 10 Westfield in dramatic fashion on Wednesday, winning 9-8 in overtime! Tied 6-6 at halftime, the Dragons’ Caitlin Quinn scored her second and third goals on the day to take an 8-6 lead heading into the fourth quarter. There, Gillian Cohen scored her second and third goals, the latter coming with under 3:30 left, to tie it up at 8 and eventually send it to OT.

With the seconds ticking down in the first overtime, Kent Place’s Addison Quinn’s bid at her fourth goal was saved by Westfield’s Mia Calderon-Brown, but Molly Brozowski scooped up the ground ball next to the net and scored her second goal to bring home the thrilling win for the Dragons.
