Westfield 11 Seton Hall Prep 10
No. 11 Westfield (1-2) picked up their first win of 2026 in the most thrilling fashion imaginable, scoring five unanswered goals in the third and fourth quarters to defeat NJ No. 11./U.S. No. 13 Seton Hall Prep (0-2) 11-10.
The Blue Devils held a 4-2 lead after one, but gave up four straight goals in the second. They then tied things up with two late goals, including a coast-to-coast buzzer-beating goal scored by Luke Spaide.
The Pirates held a 10-6 lead late in the third after scoring four unanswered of their own to start the half. Then, Patrick Smith netted his second goal of the game to make it 10-7 heading into the final frame. Ben Seward then scored with 10:00 remaining in regulation to pull it within two. Brody Ferguson followed up with a goal with 7:30 remaining to make it 10-9 and, with just over 4:00 left, Kieran Gerne tied things up at 10! With 70 seconds remaining in regulation, Cooper Rosen and Gerne assisted Cooper Cimei as the senior drilled his second goal of the contest to score the game-winner.
Joining Cimei with two goals was Harrison Rekemeier. Quinlan Oakes led the Pirates with four goals, followed by Jack Merklinger and Owen Dunleavy with three and two, respectively.
