JSZ goes around the Garden State for a trio of matchups in high school lacrosse. Northern Burlington heads to Pennington to take on defending North Group 2 champion Hopewell Valley for a non-conference clash. Mainland and Lower Cape May collide in a Cape-Atlantic League opener. Plus in girls lacrosse, defending sectional champions go to battle in the NJIGLL as Sparta takes on Mountain Lakes. Check back as the highlights are posted throughout the night!


Northern Burlington 10 Hopewell Valley 7 | Boys

The Hounds are off to a red-hot start to the 2026 season. After picking up a 24-1 win in their season opener, Northern Burlington (2-0) kept the momentum rolling, as the Greyhounds took down reigning North Group II champion Hopewell Valley (1-1). Trailing 7-6, Matt Keck tied the game with one second left in the third quarter, and it was all NBC from there. Keck and Jake VanMater combined for seven goals, with three coming in the final stretch, as Northern Burlington secured a big early-season win.

Mainland 18 Lower Cape May 1 | Boys

The Mustangs stormed out to a 6-0 lead in the first as they scored a decisive win against the Caper Tigers to open the season. Jack Gregory poured in a game-high five goals in the victory. Ryan Scannell went for a hat trick, while Liam Kennedy and Sean Kelly scored twice for Mainland (1-0). Ty Bonner netted the lone goal in the loss for Lower Cape May (0-1).

Sparta 9 Mountain Lakes 5 | Girls

Sparta girls lacrosse started off their North Group 2 title defense on a huge note on Thrsday with a 9-5 road victory over defending North Group 1 champions Mountain Lakes.

The first quarter of action was filled with it as the Lakers scored four unanswered goals after trailing 3-0 with 3:00 left in the period. From that point, though, the Spartans took control by outscoring ML 6-1 the rest of the way.

Senior Moira Sweeney who had 63 goals last year picked up right where she left off, leading Sparta with 4 goals on the afternoon. Also making waves was freshman Reagan Cina who had a hat trick in her first career game. The goalscorers for Mountain Lakes were Shea Sutter (2), Estella Fragomeni, Nora Lin, and Avery Reid.
