Plainfield 68 Linden 44 | Boys | North 2 Group 4 Final
Micah Gordon had 33 points and seven assists and sparked a 16-0 run to start the game to give the Cardinals (24-5) a section championship. Devin Thomas had 17 points and Rashawn Williams added a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. It’s the third straight win this season for Plainfield over Linden who finish the year with a 19-10 record.

Rumson-Fair Haven 47 Manasquan 33 | Boys | Central Jersey Group 2 Final
Luke Cruz had 17 points, 13 rebounds and four blocked shots to lead RFH to a section title and end the six year reign of Manasquan as section champs and eliminated the defending state champions. Blake Ahmann had 10 points and seven rebounds with Luke Lydon adding seven points. Ahmann had a breakaway dunk in the fourth quarter and Lydon immediately followed that with a twisting reverse layup to put RFH (20-8) up by 11. Manasquan (16-10), who was without head coach Andrew Bilodeau as he recovers from a heart attack sufered at the end of the section semifinal, was paced by Logan Cleveland’s 13 points. RFH coach George Sourlis, a five time state champion and 14 time section champ in his RFH girls basketball career brings home a section title in his first season leading the Rumson boys.

Westfield 50 Bayonne 35 | Girls | North 2 Group 4 Final
The Blue Devils have now gone back-to-back in North 2 Group 4 as 2-seed Westfield girls basketball defeated top-seed Bayonne 50-35 in Friday’s sectional final! The two teams kept things close through the first two quarters with Westfield holding a 19-14 lead at the half, but a 13-5 Blue Devil third frame opened things up for the defending champs.
Westfield senior forward Sophie Lane was the game’s high scorer with 20 points, adding 10 rebounds for her second double-double in a row. Samara Porch led the Bees with 11. The Blue Devils will now face No. 8 West Orange in Tuesday’s state semifinal at Elizabeth High School.

Lenape 59 Howell 40 | Girls | South Jersey Group 4 Final
The Indians blew things open in the fourth to reverse their fortunes from a season ago and win their second sectional title in three years. El-Anita Joe-Samuel poured in 12 points in the final frame as she finished with a game-high 20 points and 17 rebounds in the victory. Ryleigh Nichols knocked down four three-pointers and went for 14 points for top-seeded Lenape (27-4). Kylee Beam and BellaRose Marino both finished with a team-high 14 points in the loss for third-seeded Howell (24-6). Lenape now gets set to go after its second state title in three years, and will face Central champion Franklin in the Group 4 state semifinals next week.
