CBA 4 St. Joe’s Metuchen 1 | Boys | Non-Public Tournament First Round
Anthony Brereton had two goals and an assist to lead the Colts (14-10) to the Non-Public quarterfinals and a matchup against St. Joe’s-Montvale. Trailing 2-0 after two periods, Michael Sudia got the Falcons (13-7-1) within 2-1 early in the third. Ryan Burtnick’s power play goal gave CBA a two goal cushion and Nick Fiore added an empty netter.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood 7 Old Bridge 3 | Boys | South, Public Tournament First Round
Senior forward Nick Movsesian scored four goals as No. 6 seed Scotch Plains-Fanwood boys hockey kicked off the South-Public tournament in a big way Wednesday, defeating No. 11 seed Old Bridge 7-3. The upset-minded Knights started out the game with a 1-0 after the 1st period off a Nick Gallo goal. John Nocera kicked off the 2nd with a goal for the Raiders to knot it up at 1. Just one minute later, Nick Movsesian his first goal of the game. Nick Gallo then scored his second of the game off of a highlight reel goal to tie it up at 2. Liam Bonifas scored for SP-F with 4:00 left in the 2nd to make it a 3-2 game into the third after a wild period.
The Raiders’ Charles Sacchetti kicked off the scoring in the 3rd with 11:00 left to make it 4-2, quickly followed by a Devin Doctors goal for the Knights to cut it to 4-3. SP-F caught fire late, though, with Movsesian scoring his other three goals on the night to close it out.
Scotch-Plains Fanwood now plays No. 3 seed Middletown North in Thursday’s South-Public quarterfinals.

The Ravens continue their impressive season with a convincing first round win in the South, Public Co-Op First Round. James Morino netted two goals, with the first coming 23 seconds into the game. NJ’s leading goal scorer, Jake Lachance, broke his father’s single-season scoring record with his 48th goal of the season. Robbinsville-Allentown (19-5) moves on to the Quarterfinals, while the McMullen Cup Winners Millburn finish their season at 7-8-2.

Chiara Donohue scored three straight goals to reach 23 on the season to lead the Monarchs (17-5) to the state quarterfinals and a matchup with Kent Place on Friday. Fiona McAllister opened the scoring and Rosie Spiropolous recorded the fifth and final goal on a breakaway. Donohue scored twice in the second period including a snipe in the closing minute before scoring on a spectacular breakaway in the third.
