It’s another busy Saturday as JSZ goes all over the Garden State for some great matchups in high school basketball. No. 2 Bergen Catholic and No. 3 St. Peter’s Prep boys hoops battle at Caldwell University for the Big Jersey Showcase crown, Gill St. Bernard’s and CBA boys clash at the Showcase in a top-ten matchup, and Paul VI tangles with Gloucester Catholic in a top-ten girls showdown in South Jersey. We also saw Duke commit Deron Rippey Jr. in action as Blair Academy heads to Lawrenceville. Plus, Vineland looks to stay red-hot as they take on rival Millville. Gill St. Bernard’s 64 CBA 52 | Boys

In the 3rd place game of the Big Jersey Basketball Showcase, No. 6 Gill St. Bernard’s boys basketball picked up their 11th straight win and their biggest of the year so far, defeating No. 4 Christian Brothers Academy 64-52.

The Knights were down 24-15 midway through the second quarter, but then went on a crucial 21-2 run to  take and extend on a lead they would not relinquish. Senior guard Dorsett Mulcahy led all scorers with 24, his fourth straight 20+ point game.

Paul VI 58 Gloucester Catholic 42 | Girls

The sixth-ranked Eagles stayed perfect on the season as they delivered a statement victory in a top-ten battle with the third-ranked Rams. Brooke Stagliano was tremendous from the opening tip, scoring 17 of her game-high 24 points in the first half. Jordyn Patrick added 13 points in the victory for Paul VI (12-0). Loyola commit Talia Shumate led a balanced attack with a team-high 14 points, while Jalyn Moore and Jahzara Green chipped in with 13 and 12 points respectively in the loss for Gloucester Catholic (11-3).
