JSZ brings you two powerhouse North Jersey hockey clashes this Wednesday night! West Morris closes out the season sweep over Halvorsen Division rival Madison, while Pope John and Northern Highlands score 8 goals in a Top-20 overtime thriller! Stay tuned as the highlights roll in!

West Morris 5 Madison 1 | Boys

Rhone Armijo erupted for four goals as West Morris pulled away for a 5–1 win over Madison in a key Halvorsen Division matchup at Mennen Arena. After Madison opened the scoring early on a goal from Lucas Gero, the Wolfpack responded with five unanswered, including three goals in the first period to seize control. Armijo scored twice in the opening frame, added another off a Madison turnover late in the second, and capped his night with a third-period finish. Mark Dybas turned aside several quality chances in net, including a point-blank opportunity from Gero, as West Morris (10–2) completed the season sweep and stayed unbeaten in division play. Gero accounted for Madison’s (11-2) lone goal in the loss.

Pope John 4 Northern Highlands 4 | Boys

A matchup that was nearly even on paper turned out that way as No. 17 Pope John and No. 18 Northern Highlands skated to a 4-4 draw on Tuesday night in Stockholm. Sophomore Carter Beswick gave Highlands a 1-0 lead after one period, but a combined five-goal 2nd period between the two teams made it 3-3 heading into the final frame of regulation. Northern Highlands junior Ben Barrata netted his second goal of the evening with less than five minutes left to take the lead, but Pope John’s Hunter Parrillo got his second goal with 90 seconds to go to send it to overtime!

Both teams would come up empty in OT due to clutch saves from Northern Highlands’ Matt Khaimov (35 total saves) and Pope John’s Anthony Canetta (25 total saves).
