Don Bosco Prep and Bergen Catholic go down to the wire, Bridgewater-Raritan storms back to hand Westfield its first loss, and Marlboro-Holmdel drops previously-unbeaten Toms River. Don Bosco Prep 5 Bergen Catholic 4 (OT)

Big hits, crazy goals and a wild finish. What more could you ask for in this matchup of heated rivals? Preston Ferro’s third goal of the night proved to be the overtime game-winner as Don Bosco Prep (7-1) won a heart-pounding game in front of a sold out crowd in Wayne. Ferro led the Ironmen with the hat trick while Jack Foye and Ryan Murphy scored goals in the win. Bergen Catholic (3-3) got an incredible effort from junior Carter Edmonds, who scored all four goals in a massively-impressive showing.

Bridgewater-Raritan 6 Westfield 4

On Christmas Eve Eve, Bridgewater-Raritan (6-1-1) overcame a 3-goal deficit to spark a holiday comeback. Sasha Abolenskiy led the way for the Panthers with his second hat trick in three games, scoring two incredible goals, including the go-ahead tally. After scoring five unanswered goals, the Panthers handed reigning Public State Champions Westfield (4-1) their first loss of the season, pulling off a miraculous victory on Main Street in an exhilarating matchup between two of New Jersey’s top public high school hockey teams.

Marlboro-Holmdel 2 Toms River 0

The Mustangs got big days from Philip Revzin and David Furman to get past previously-unbeaten Toms River and pick up their second-straight win. Revzin delivered his third of the season to break the ice late in the second period and finished with two goals in the victory. Furman stopped 29 shots to earn the shutout in net for Marlboro-Holmdel (3-4). David Gawalis had 22 saves in the loss for Toms River (5-1).
