The high school hoops season is just starting to ramp up as JSZ brings you a pair of games from the hardwood. Cherokee and Cherry Hill West meet in a fantastic girls hoops opener between two of South Jersey’s best. In boys hoops, Nottingham collides with Princeton in a CVC-Colonial divisional clash. Nottingham 42 Princeton 34 | Boys
Last year, the Northstars recorded their fewest wins since the 2018–19 season. This season, Nottingham (2-0) has gotten off to a strong start in the 2025-26 campaign with back-to-back CVC victories. James Rumph led the team with 12 points, while Liam Cox contributed 10. Nottingham maintained a solid 10-15 point lead for most of the game, though Princeton (0-1) made things interesting in the fourth quarter, at one point drawing the lead down to six.

Cherokee 40 Cherry Hill West 34 | Girls
The Chiefs fought off a second half surge from the defending Group 3 state champions to score a quality win to open the season. Boston University commit Brielle Alaba led the way with a team-high 16 points in the victory. Coastal Carolina lacrosse commit Abby Ball added eight points for defending SJ Group 4 champion Cherokee (1-0). Kirsten Gibson connected on five three-pointers to finish with a game-high 21 points for Cherry Hill West (0-1).
