JSZ brings you three semifinal showdowns from both the Prep “A” and South Jersey Coaches’ Cup tournaments! St. Augustine wins a close one to top Shawnee, while the Pennington boys and girls deliver standout performances at home. Stay tuned as the highlights roll in!
St. Augustine 1 Shawnee 0 | South Jersey Coaches’ Cup Tournament Semifinal | Boys
Gabe Beyer’s goal in the 43rd minute proved to be the difference as the top-seeded Hermits avenged a loss to the fourth-seeded Renegades in a rematch of last year’s Coaches’ Cup championship match. It was Beyer’s third goal of the season in the victory. Matt Carr and the Hermit back line held things down the rest of the way to pick up a clean sheet for St. Augustine (17-1-1). Shawnee (10-5-2) now gets set for the state playoffs, where they will face Cherry Hill West in the opening round. St. Augustine advances to face Washington Township for the SJ Coaches’ Cup title on Saturday night in Cherry Hill.

Pennington 5 Blair Academy 1 | Prep “A” Semifinal | Girls
The Red Hawks reached their 14th Prep “A” Final in 15 years on their remarkable Senior Night. Senior Katie Dwyer a GOALIE, started in the field and scored her first career goal. Even though the night honored the seniors, it was a sophomore who led the way. Kate Irani recorded a first-half hat trick as Pennington (13-2-1), the reigning co-champions, defeated Blair Academy (9-4) and now look to take the “co” away when they showdown with undefeated Mount St. Dominic in the Prep “A” Final.
