NJ girls soccer takes center stage in our Wednesday highlights. We’ve got three great games headlined by Paul VI and Cherokee along with late drama from Haddon Township and West Deptford boys. Check out our highlights throughout the evening!
Paul VI 4 Cherokee 2 | Girls
USA’s 6th-ranked squad got a big boost from one of their senior leaders to secure a win on Senior Night and stay unbeaten on the season. UNC lacrosse commit Emma McCarthy scored 40 seconds into regulation as she finished with a hat trick and an assist in the victory. Virginia commit Kylie Berk added her seventh goal of the season for Paul VI (12-0). Tahlia Rowe and Lily Gorsline scored in the loss for Cherokee (9-3-1).

Chatham 3 Madison 1 | Girls | Morris County Tournament Quarterfinal
A rare rematch of last year’s championship game in the early rounds of this year’s tournament goes in favor of the defending champs. After not getting a shot on goal in the first half, the fifth-seeded Cougars ripped off three second-half goals to pull away and pick up the win. Sophomore Lucy Arps broke the game open with a Goal of the Year nominee while Rutgers pledge Amanda Thonrton had a goal and an assist in the win for Chatham (9-3-1). Fourth-seeded Madison (9-1-1) scored in the first minute but was held scoreless from there on out. Chatham advances to face top-seed Morris Knolls in the county semifinals.

Trinity Hall 2 Red Bank Regional 0 | Girls | Shore Conference Tournament 1st Round
Ryan Raynor scored from long distance off the crossbar in the 11th minute and Kailyn Fitzgerald scored her 13th of the season in the 38th minute thanks to a beautiful through ball by Kaylee Davis to give the Monarchs (13-2-2) a spot in the SCT Round of 16. Trinity Hall will take on 7th seed Wall this Friday in the second round.

Haddon Township 3 West Deptford 2 | Boys
With just under a minute remaining, Haddon Township had already erased a 2-0 halftime deficit—but the best was yet to come. In the 80th minute, junior Bobby McIlvaine launched an absolute rocket, giving the Hawks a 3-2 lead with about 45 seconds left on the clock. That goal sealed a dramatic comeback and a major victory. Haddon Township (10-4-1) ended West Deptford’s (8-4-2) division title hopes and will now face Lindenwold on Monday for the Colonial Liberty Division crown.
