A great Friday night slate is here for Week 5 as the calendar turns to October!

Don Bosco Prep 47 DePaul Catholic 15 | Super Football Conference

The Ironmen continue to bolster their resume as the state’s top-ranked team after taking out a second state champion in consecutive weeks. Don Bosco Prep (5-0) is out to their best start since 2011 thanks to a suffocating defense and efficient offense. Kane Ramos’ pick-six was the highlight of the night for Bosco, who held the Spartans scoreless in the second half. Isaiah Alvarez and Ca’Si Thomas each scored two touchdowns in the win. Washington commit Derek Zammit had a pair of touchdown runs for DePaul Catholic (4-2) in the loss.

Old Tappan 14 Northern Highlands 7 | Super Football Conference

Zach Miceli made an incredible escape from a collapsed pocket on 4th down to fire a 16-yard touchdown pass to the back of the end zone to Leo Etter to break a 7-7 tie in the third quarter and give Old Tappan (6-0) and 11th straight win dating back to last year. Northern Highlands (5-1) outgained the Golden Knights 275 to 169 with Chase Colarco and Tucker Kanning combining for 261 yards on the ground. Kanning’s 49-yard touchdown run in the first was the Highlanders only points.

Wayne Valley 34 Wayne Hills 31 | Super Football Conference

An all-time great ending to this annual Passaic County rivalry went down Friday night. Indians’ senior Ty Cummings blocked Matthew May’s field goal with time expiring in the fourth quarter to preserve a heart-pounding win. This was a back and forth heavyweight match between two talented teams with Wayne Valley (5-1) coming out on top. Danny Ferraulio broke the Indians’ all-time passing record in the win while going 17-22 for 222 yards and three touchdowns through the air. Jadon Cabrales came up with 173 scrimmage yards and a pair of touchdowns to fuel the offense. Wayne Hills (5-1) led 24-14 at the half and nearly tied the game before that final play.

Brick Memorial 55 Holmdel 41 | Shore Conference

In a matchup of top Shore Conference quarterbacks, Brick Memorial’s Jason Lajara outdueled Holmdel’s Jack Cannon in a wild game.  Lajara was 26-33 for 386 yards and 4 TDs passing along with 89 yards rushing and 3 TDs. Cannon was 18-32 for 277 passing and had 183 rushing yards and 5 TDs.  The Mustangs improve to 4-2 knocking off a state ranked team on the road.

Cherokee 22 Shawnee 21 | West Jersey Football League

The Chiefs and the Renegades delivered one of the wildest finishes of the 2025 season. Trailing by 7 in the red zone with under 30 seconds to play, Cherokee quarterback Cooper Burti fumbled at the one-yard line — the ball rolled into the end zone and was recovered by the Chiefs for a touchdown. But Burti bounced back, connecting with Steven Barbagiovanni for the game-winning two-point conversion to seal a dramatic victory. Cherokee (3-3) snaps a three-game losing streak while extending their win streak over rival Shawnee (3-3) to six straight.
