The Bears finally got over the hump to score the program’s second-ever sectional championship and the first since 2019 thanks to their southpaw ace. Second-seeded Verona (19-7) got a leadoff hit and only got on base twice after that all game long in the loss. Brearley will go on the road to face Midland Park in the Group 1 semifinals next week.
